Portfolio: Romantic wedding florist website in eggplant & sage
The inspiration
For this passion project, I wanted to create a custom website design for a wedding florist working in the British countryside.
I wanted it to feel refined yet understated, romantic, and natural. A bit reminiscent of a Jane Austen story!
Specifically, I was inspired by things like: the draping of soft fabrics, old European architecture, wildflowers blowing in the breeze, raw-cut ribbons, crawling vines, and organic bouquets.
The Design Plan
It’s super important that the images used on a website match [or complement] the design scheme.
I loved the idea of sage green & deep purple for this brand, so I collected some gorgeous images in that color palette, courtesy of Social Squares and Pexels. Then I narrowed it down to just the best images that helped tell the story I wanted to create.
Using a simple greyscale scheme as a backdrop for the photos allowed them to shine effortlessly! And to keep with the understated feeling, I used a couple classic, quiet fonts - nothing crazy.
The Squarespace Website
I designed the homepage in Squarespace (that’s my affiliate link fyi), using soft fabric textures as some section backgrounds in order to add richness.
The framed white photos create a bit more polish, and the deep eggplant accents help the call-to-action buttons stand out and tie together the whole look!
Even the copy on the website is written in a sophisticated voice and designed to feel moving — to help you imagine your fairy tale wedding day.
I love seeing it all come together!
