Portfolio: Modern iridescent custom Squarespace website for an event photography company

The Inspiration

For my next passion project I wanted to create a website that was inspired by the iridescent wedding trend. :)

I knew I wanted the website to evoke a party atmosphere and fomo, with a bit of fantasy, but still keeping it upscale and exclusive.

The first thing I did was collect lots and lots of images that captured the right vibe!

The brand

After narrowing down my selection of images I started to see a clear vision. I thought an event photographer was the perfect candidate for this brand!

I brainstormed different business names that would work with this concept and landed on “Mother of Pearl Studio” :)

Time to design a modern & elegant logo!

The Website

I designed a landing page for Mother of Pearl in Squarespace 7.1 (that’s my affiliate link) with a mixture of custom graphics and CSS to create a premium feel.

I decided I wanted to keep the website light and airy to keep the “iridescent” feeling, while making sure to infuse some drama through very contrasting fonts, large photos with lots of negative space, and overlapping elements.

The sparkling textures and injection of neon keep the party vibes alive, while the delicate details in the photos and thin boxes keep a sense of elegance.

What do we think of the final result?! I’m freaking obsessed.
